Sam and her friend Diana are attacked by a magpie and since the local postie refuses to deliver mail something has to be done. The next day a new girl called Bianca joins their class and is so rude to Diana, because Diana has cerebral palsy. Sam is furious but when the girls learn that Bianca is staying with her aunt because her mother is too ill they do become friends. When Bianca tries to cure the magpie problem and falls off her bike she has concussion, there has to be a better way forward, but what?
Teaching Points
Develops values:
- The self, recognising that we are unique human beings capable of spiritual, moral, intellectual and physical growth and development
- relationships as fundamental to the development and fulfilment of ourselves and others, and to the good of the community. We value others for themselves, not only for what they have or what they can do for us
- equal opportunities: boys and girls are encouraged to see themselves as different but equal.
